Twentieth Century (1934)



"I close...the iron door!"

Considered the predecessor to the screwball comedy, this picture stars John Barrymore as an over-the-top producer and Carole Lombard as his rising protege. They're both nutty as fruitcakes and repeatedly steal the film out from under each other. Extremely funny and effervescent - there isn't a dull moment in the entire thing! "Excellent" is too understated a word - I want to get this for my personal collection.
